METHODS ADOPTED FOR WITHDRAWAL/SUSPENSION/EXPULSION

i. Physical abuse or threats of violence posed to a staff member will result in an instant T.C.
ii. Gambling by students in the school premises or at school functions Gambling seriously offensive and will result in instant T.C.
iii. Misrepresentations by fake telephone calls and mail will result in instant T.C.
iv. Downloading music files or videos unless authorized by a teacher for a class will cause immediate suspension or expulsion depending on its gravity.
v. Process: Students who commit gross violation of the accepted school norms relating to academic and social conduct are instantly given a T.C.
vi. The initial report of the alleged student’s misconducts is documented by the reporting teacher and provided to the class teacher.
vii. First, the accused is given a chance to give her/his statement of the incident. Then a comprehensive attempt is made to validate the initial report through cross checking from various sources such as class teacher, subject teacher, Section in-charge, student counselor, classmates/peers, and other staff. All opinions and evidences are then meticulously documented to make this process as transparent as possible.
viii. During the entire process the student is allowed to attend school.
ix. Unless there is a clear and indisputable evidence and at least a general consensus among SJIS staff and management regarding gross misconduct, the process of inquiry is terminated with a recommendation to the appropriate authority to allow the child to continue in the school.
x. To facilitate a meaningful and deliberate process of inquiry and to a shallow decision on a child's future, the process can range from a few weeks to over a month.
xi. Once a clear case of student misconduct has been established on the basis of collected evidence the student file is sent to the department of discipline. After going through the file, the department of discipline takes the final decision.
xii. The parents are then requested to withdraw their child from SJIS with transfer certificate.
