A student can attend two make up CTs in two different subjects at the end of each semester collecting makeup test forms from the office. Payment for each CT would be Tk. 100.

METHODS ADOPTED FOR WITHDRAWAL/SUSPENSION/EXPULSION

WITHDRAWAL/SUSPENSION/EXPULSION

i. Physical abuse or threats of violence posed to a staff member will result in an instant T.C. ii. Gambling by students in the school premises or at school functions Gambling seriously offensive and will result in instant T.C. iii. Misrepresentations by fake telephone calls and mail will result in instant T.C. iv. Downloading music files or videos unless authorized by a teacher for a class will cause immediate suspension or expulsion depending on its gravity. v. Process: Students who commit gross violation of the accepted school norms relating to academic and social conduct are instantly given a T.C. vi. The initial report of the alleged student’s misconducts is documented by the reporting teacher and provided to the class teacher. vii. First, the accused is given a chance to give her/his statement of the incident. Then a comprehensive attempt is made to validate the initial report through cross checking from various sources such as class teacher, subject teacher, Section in-charge, student counselor, classmates/peers, and other staff. All opinions and evidences are then meticulously documented to make this process as transparent as possible. viii. During the entire process the student is allowed to attend school. ix. Unless there is a clear and indisputable evidence and at least a general consensus among SJIS staff and management regarding gross misconduct, the process of inquiry is terminated with a recommendation to the appropriate authority to allow the child to continue in the school. x. To facilitate a meaningful and deliberate process of inquiry and to a shallow decision on a child's future, the process can range from a few weeks to over a month. xi. Once a clear case of student misconduct has been established on the basis of collected evidence the student file is sent to the department of discipline. After going through the file, the department of discipline takes the final decision. xii. The parents are then requested to withdraw their child from SJIS with transfer certificate.

3.1 Pass Marks and Promotion i. Pass marks in each subject: For Grades III to X is 60%. ii. A student may be detained if she/he fails in the same subject for two consecutive years. iii. Students of classes III-X failing in three or more subjects will be given a Transfer Certificate (TC). iv. A student who fails two years during her/his school life will be given a TC. v. Students who do not attend 85% of the school working days may not be promoted.

PERMISSION FOR ANY FUNCTION OR PROGRAMME

PERMISSION

1. A class wishing to obtain special permission for functions, study tours, picnics, etc must submit in writing their petition to the Principal at least one school day in advance. A petitions must be signed by at least 3 (three) students who represent the class. An unsigned petition or petition not given in time is not approved. At least three teachers must sign and be present in the programme. ii. Students who want to arrange any function outside the school campus using the name of the school must take permission from the proper authority.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

SCHOOL UNIFORM

The main objective of the school uniform is to maintain uniformity in appearance. The school uniform has a significant impact on a student's life. Students should wear uniform all times during school hours. No students shall leave the school compound without uniform, changing uniform and leaving school compound is a punishable act. 1.1 The following regulations must be followed: i. Cleanliness and personal hygiene must be maintained. ii. The school uniform for boys is a sky-blue shirt (having a school monogram on the left side pocket) with a collar, grey (ash) pants, and must wear black shoes/sneakers/keds. iii. The use of jeans clothes is forbidden. iv. Boys must have a proper and decent haircut. Long hair, as well as long nails, are not permitted. Students are not allowed to highlight, colour, or tint their hair. Girl students shall not wear any jewelry, have long nails, or apply nail polish/kajal, mehendi when they come to school. v. Shirts must be tucked in properly and no shabbiness in costumes and manners be allowed. vi. The school uniform for junior girls (grades III to V) is a sky blue top and gray skirts with a monogram on left side. Girls will wear navy-blue copy. Uniform for senior girls (grade VI and above) is sky blue kameez, gray color urna, belt, and salwar. During the winter students will use a navy blue blazer or sweater with a monogram. vii. Girls must always make two plaits and tie up their hair properly using white/black bands or clips. viii. For weekly sports activities girls and boys must wear their sports uniform (grey long trousers and a T-shirt with a school monogram arranged by the school). ix. Students must always reflect a well-groomed appearance. x. Students without the proper school uniform will not be allowed to enter the school premises. Uniform is a symbol of unity among all pupils. pupils NB: Parents/guardians are advised to collect materials from the school shop on payment and get uniform made by the school tailor.

SICKNESS

A student must report to her/his class teacher or Section-in-Charge when she/he feels sick and needs to call home for parents/guardians. A child should not be sent to school if she/he is suffering from a contagious disease or has been ailing the previous night.

Special pass/Escort card

The parents / guardians of St. Joseph International School (SJIS) are requested to collect the form from the first week of the school commences, paying are fee of taka 300/= (There hundred only) for the year 2024-2025. Everyone must have a compulsory special pass/escort card from grade: 3-5.

Sports and Games

Sports and Games

Sports and games are an essential part of one's life. They play a significant role in the development of physical fitness and mental health of the person. Through participation in sports a student can get rid of our anxiety, stress etc. and attain skills that help her/him to boost personality. Every year the school arranges 'Annual Sports Day'. Regarding sports and games all pupils must follow the rules mentioned below: i. Students can take sports materials by submitting their ID cards. ii. During school, students can play up to 5.30 p.m. iii. During holidays, students can play up to 1:00 p.m. iv. Students should not use cricket bats before class and during tiffin time. v. No games should be played other than in playground areas. vi. Other than basketball no other games can be played on the basketball ground.

TRANSFER CERTIFICATE (TC)

Toys, cosmetics, ornaments, records and recording devices, cassettes, iPod, MP3, MP4, mobile phones, video camera or any other cameras, medicines, comic books or film magazines, large amounts of money (more than Tk.1000), posters, sharp things like blades and knives are strictly forbidden in the school. i. All forms of bullying are strictly prohibited in the school premises and subject to T.C. ii. No chewing gums is allowed in the school compound. Consumption or possession of cigarettes, electronic cigarette, illegal commodities like drugs in the school premises by students is strictly prohibited and in case of any violation in this regard is subject to an instant TC. iii. Adopting unfair means in the examination: Any student who is caught of cheating of cheating, copying will be given a severity of the case T.C. iv. Any student who faces disciplinary action thrice for misconduct will be given a T.C. v. Failure to secure passing grades for two consecutive years in the same class will result in T.C. may lend vi. Failure to maintain 85% attendance in the class may lead to this qualify for sitting in the examination. vii. Students may be given detention for braining discipline, academic conduct, and other rational grounds. For each detention, students must attend a detention class after school. viii. A warning letter to parents is given after 5 detentions. A letter of suspension is given if a student receives 8 detentions (or fewer if the matter is serious). A T.C. is given if a student receives 11 detentions. ix. Anyone caught smoking, involved immoralist stealing, or taking or in possession of drugs in the school compound or at any school function will be given an instant T.C x. Students are expected to observe the general rules of politeness, neatness, and cleanliness whether at the school or representing the school in public. Unruly conduct may lead to an instant T.C. In a word, they are to be gentle persons in every respect. xi. Anyone found using unethical, immoral, slang language in any social network i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc, towards any teacher or to the school may be given an instant T.C. xii. Any Students found tempering with result shall be given an instant T.C
