Attendance
3.2 Attendance: i. A student should attend school regularly. An absentee-student must bring an excuse letter on the day she/he returns to school. The letter must state why the student was absent and be signed by the parents/guardian. The letter should be submitted to Discipline Office before the class starts. ii. Students from classes III to X who take leave during school hours should be picked up by their parents. iii. Admit slip or any other permission required must be taken from the Prefect of Discipline before the class starts. iv. The students of class X has to pass the qualification examinations and 85% attendance is mandatory/compulsory to register for the 'O' Level Examinations from school.
Campus Policies and Practices for the Students
2.1 Student Conduct The success of school education basically depends on the fundamental idea of self-discipline, harmony and cooperation. Certain standards of student conduct are necessary to ensure that pupils seeking to express their rights do not, at the same time, interrupt the rights of others. The purpose of disciplinary control is to help create an atmosphere that promotes the best possible learning environment. Student conduct mainly covers the following: i. Students must learn to take care of the school property. They should refrain from scribbling or scratching on school desks, chairs, furniture or walls, etc. Students should keep the school premises clean by putting litter in the appropriate bins. ii. Since a stronger emphasis is put on 'English Language', students should speak English in and out of their classroom. iii. Students must carry their transparent pencil case or bag during all exams. iv. Entering classrooms or school premises after school hours without permission of the authority is prohibited. v. The school will not tolerate any form of inappropriate behaviour during school hours. Students are to behave in a befitting manner so as not to bring shame or discredit to the school. vi. Any damage to school property while even playing in the school yard must be reported to the office at once. Students will be liable to pay for any damage caused by them. After replacing the damaged goods/repairing the damaged property, any extra amount left will be donated to the community service fund. vii. The school uniform is the emblem of the school. Students must keep in mind that whenever they are in school uniform, they are representing the school. Therefore, any student found involved in any wrong doing outside the school premises while wearing the school uniform will be expelled from the school. viii. A student who faces disciplinary action for any misconduct will not be allowed to attend classes for a week or a month. Any class test affect her/his grade for which no make-up test will be taken later.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Co-Curricular activities are essential to ensure children's all round development. Through some key activities the students can discover their strengths and talents to gain self-esteem under the supervision of their teachers. These activities pave the way for developing some human qualities such as quick decision making ability, firmness of mind, team work, cooperative spirit, fellow filling, confidence, an courage etc. Co-curricular activities are organized for the students by different clubs such as Math, Debate, Science, English Literary, Drama, Nature Study, Art, Cultural, Dance, ICT, Media & Photography, Cubs & Scouts, Chess. More clubs will be opened as we go forward. Students are encouraged to participate in these initiatives. The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do. Walter Bagehot
DISCIPLINARY MATTERS
i. Each student is required to bring her/his school diary every day. A student who loses her/his diary will be charged Tk. 100 for a new one. ii. All the students shall make themselves acquainted with the rules and regulations notified for their conduct. Ignorance of the rules will not be accepted as an excuse for violation. iii. At all times, students must behave themselves in a manner appropriate for the classroom. They must show consideration and courtesy to their fellow students, instructors, school personnel, elders, and helpers. iv. Josephites should behave courteously wherever they go. They should always remember that the school is judged by their conduct. They should greet teachers wherever they meet them. v. Any student remaining absent without any appropriate reason will not be allowed for Class Test (CT) the following day. vi. Students are required to walk in silence when attending assemblies, physical education classes, traveling through the hallways, and switching between classrooms. Without a medical certificate, no child will be excused from sports and physical education. vii. Students will not be allowed to enter the classroom before 1:15 pm (Grade 3-8). VIII) Students of SJIS must attend the school assembly that is applicable for an all classes at least five minutes before the bell rings. IX) All students must leave the class rooms during tiffin period and after the school over. Once they leave the classroom, they must not enter again till the bell rings. x. Students should leave the classroom as early as possible after the last period. Students must switch off the fans and lights of their classrooms before leaving. xi, SILENCE must be observed in the corridors, outside the Principal's office, and on the stairs during class hours. Running, playing, or shouting inside the school building is not allowed. When passing along the corridors during class hours, students shall keep silence. xii. Maintaining good personal hygiene and cleanliness is advised for everyone. The pupils should take extra care to avoid throwing any papers, trash, or other items anywhere on the school grounds. They ought to make use of the containers and baskets designed specifically for these purpose. XIII) The students are strictly prohibited to write or make any comments on the walls, the school's property, or any of the furnishings. Any student who is determined to have harmed school property will face suspension and financial responsibility for the harm done. High seats, desks, and veranda railings cannot be used by students for seating. xiv. While entering the school compound, students (not parents or bearers) are to carry their books and bags. etc. xv. During tiffin and after school the veranda in front of the office is not to be used except by those who have business in the office. xvi. Cycling, throwing stones, and other activities, which may cause injury are forbidden in the school compound. xvii. Students must provide for their own needs in the classroom and should not request permission to borrow things from others. xviii. Students are not allowed to bring explosives, crackers, or other harmful items to school. Such violators shall be subject to strict disciplinary action. xix. Students are encouraged to protect their personal property. The school administration disclaims any liability for lost items such as tiffin carriers, money, clothing, and books. xx. The exchange of goods or the transfer of money between students is prohibited. xxi. Fees must be cleared by the 25th of each month unless otherwise notified. A fine of Tk. 100 (hundred) per month will be charged to the defaulters. Students will not be allowed to stay on the veranda during tiffin period. They should all be in the field. xxix. Each student should bring books and other necessary items in the Class everyday according to their glass routine. xxiv. No balls or other sports equipment’s are allowed in the classroom and school. xxv. During tiffin and after school no student should remain in the class. xxvi, Students possessing indecent literature, pictures, books, CD, etc. will be suspended. Students must not use or carry any mobile phone, camera, or mechanical device in the school. xxvii. A teacher can consider awarding a detention if a student disturbs others/makes a noise/copies from others/seems inattentive or commits any other offence or spoils classroom environment. xxviii. The Disciplinary Committee meets to discuss, review and make a revision of disciplinary matters. No parents / guardians are permitted to stay in the school compound during the school time except in any special cause permitted by the school authority. SJIS always remains strict in regard to the Discipline and Code of Conduct.
Gate Pass
All students from grade: 6-11. The parents / guardians of St. Joseph International School (SJIS) are requested to collect the form from the first week of the school commences, paying are fee of taka 300/= (There hundred only) for the year 2024-2025. Everyone must have a compulsory gate pass from grade: 6-11. The parents / guardians who don’t want to take gate pass cant take an escort card.
ID CARD
Identity Cards help make sure that every child in the classroom or on the campus is identified. That is why all students must wear ID Cards on school days.
LATE AND ABSENCE EXCUSE SLIP
1. Late attendance in the class will subject to pay a fine of taka 100 each day. 2. Absence without notice, valid reason or in case of sickness (doctor certificates) will have to be produced. In case of failure, it will be a subject to pay a fine of taka 100 (one hundred) each day. School begins at 1:25 p.m. The gate closes for students at 1:15 p.m. Students attending school later than 1:15 will not be allowed to attend class directly. Such students will have to obtain a late attendance slip from the office and take an excuse slip paying a fine of taka 100/- only

Leave without valid reason will be subject to pay a fine of taka 100 (One hundred) only for each day. N.B: The St. Joseph International School (SJIS) doesn’t want to charge any fine if the students follow the strict disciplinary rules of the school. We want our students to be disciplined in every respect.
LEAVE RULES
Leave of absence will be granted only for serious reasons on previously written application from parents. In case of absence without leave, the student, on returning to the school, must produce the reason of absence from her/his Parents/Guardian and submit it to the discipline committee to receive permission to continue classes. A student returning to school after contracting a contagious or infectious disease should produce a Doctor's Fitness Certificate permitting her/him and submit to the discipline committee to receive permission to attend classes. Students who do not attend classes for a continuous period of two months, without permission from the school authority/will be considered withdrawn from the school.
